Searching for a job nowadays is an arduous task that requires concentration and patience to go from one job offer to another and fill out endless forms. Since social networks are one of the main channels for job search, cybercriminals are taking advantage of this habit to pose as human resources recruiters and make false job offers to defraud applicants so that they lose their personal information and, in many cases, money.
But, is it possible to detect a false job announcement? Next, Daniel Kanamori, Manager of Administration and Human Resources at Pesquera Hayduk, shares four tips that will help people not to fall victim to a scam on social media:
Avoid filling out questionnaires: If when you click on a page you have to enter data, passwords and there is no clear explanation of why, doubt it, since that way they extract personal information.
Verify the official website of the company: Companies that recruit through social networks usually do so from official accounts. Validate the information on these channels and do not trust people who contact you directly by Whatsapp or by phone asking you for something in return to apply.
Do not make any type of payment: Real job offers do not request money from applicants at any stage of the selection process, much less for COVID-19 dismissals, medical exams, among others.
Do not trust messages and/or calls: Every job announcement has a contact from the Human Resources area. The scammers describe the job offer as "a unique opportunity that you cannot pass up and that you must accept." It is preferable to contact the company to verify said information, block and report the number.
Likewise, for these recommendations to be measurable and achievable, the most important thing is to keep in mind that the world of social networks is constantly evolving, and they allow you to have basic information at hand to confirm whether the information is real or false.
